I'm hoping someone can point me in the direction of a nice free alphabet pattern to be used on a baby bib. I've searched google and haven't found any free patterns that I like that will work for my needs. The biggest problem is the length of the childs name (Audriana) The total space on the bib for stitching is about 30 sts. tall by 140 sts. wide. This means each letter can only be about 14 stitches wide. I was thinking of something simple like maybe lettered building blocks but I'm open to other baby motifs.
I have a book called Spedcial Occasion Designs and Borders by Dale Burdett, that has a suitable alphabet using blocks. Published by Jeanette Crews Designs. The lending library is open if you promise to return it. Just send me your snail mail and I will mail it out.
My embroidery is a baby dress. I tried out a new iron-on transfer pencil. I had tried it before and the results were excellent, so I put it on this yoke and embroidered away.
Well, disaster struck with the monogram. The pink of the pencil wouldn't come out.
I tried several soaks in Woolite. It came out perfectly in the lightly embroidered parts, but not the monogram which is heavily padded.
So, I tried Woolite and Clorox 2.
After this, the lovely cotton cloth bleached from heavenly DMC 746 to ivory. The embroidery was fine - the pink remained in the monogram.
I did NOT want to re-embroider this garment, so I tried Woolite and chloride bleach.
The pink finally came out. The cloth is an "ivory" and the DMC threads are exactly the way they should be.
I had to run the rest of the cloth (not embroidered) through the same procedure to get the right color.
